Manufactured in the UK and based upon technology developed at Edinburgh University Medical School, SVOP (Saccadic Vector Optokinetic Perimetry) represents a new generation of Perimetry Instruments, which relies only upon instinctive eye movements from the patient
The patient interfaces with a flat monitor screen on which images appear as stimuli for the patient to view. The patients eye movements in response to the stimuli are captured by the SVOP integral eye tracker, resulting in an industry standard visual field map to facilitate the diagnosis and clinical management of the patient.
The SVOP measures the central 30o of visual field at 14dB illumination, using Goldman Standard III – V images.
Lighting conditions can be normal ambient lighting or darkened lighting, according to which is comfortable for the patient.
Operation is by an intuitive operator interface, integral to the instrument with full training is provided.
SVOP is capable of intensive use within a busy ophthalmology department or medical practice.
SVOP can be reassuring to the patient when in use, since the patient sees a computer monitor screen in a normally lit room with free head and eye movement.
