SVOP uses eyetracking technology which removes the need for head restraint, fixating on a single point and difficult patient interactions such trigger buttons.  The system therefore provides objective test results following a visual field examination.

Rapid Visual Field Testing

Another advantage of SVOP is the short time required for the test.  A typical test with an SVOP instrument takes less than 2 minutes (binocular).

The benefits of a rapid test include not tiring the patient plus the instrument can be used post operatively with patients, who would otherwise not be able to cope with a more physically demanding visual field test instrument.

Furthermore, where loss of vision has been identified, the SVOP system will recheck these areas with these tests typically being completed in under three minutes.
